This past weekend 8/10/2024, I decided to try a new stylist here in Houston, Keihla Samone at Color Du Jour. I researched her IG page @the.prostylist and from what was shown, she did good work. I arrived at the shop at my scheduled appointment time which was 1:00pm where I checked in and the receptionist advised Keihla would be with me shortly. Another young lady arrived shortly after me and took a seat in the waiting area. The stylist walks in the building at 1:10pm with no acknowledgment, introduction or anything. She brings the other woman to the back and then sends me a text asking if I’m here. I reply yes and she stated that she would shampoo the woman first and then get to me. Keihla comes back to the waiting area at 1:30pm to escort me to the shampoo bowl. She’s finally shampooing my hair or taking out some aggression because she was tearing my head up and I’m FAR from tender headed. She’s literally yanking and pulling my hair with the detangler brush and then proceeds to tell me “do you know your hair is shedding?” In reality my hair was not shedding, she was literally pulling out my hair with the brush and I knew this because my scalp was tender after she finished and I told her this. Next, we go to her chair where she starts to blow dry my hair. She’s literally beating me in the head with the brush and I stopped her to tell her she was doing so, her reply? “Oh.” The cherry on top, she asks if I want a trim or curls. I say curls….. why did I hear a snip?! She cut my hair and then had the audacity to say that I said it low so she didn’t hear me!! We had a discussion after this as I asked if you could have a conversation with her. She replied yes and I said, “this can’t be personal because you don’t know me and I don’t know you. I let her know everything that I explained in this review. I explained I’m not the type to leave reviews as I prefer to have conversations with said person and hopefully come to some common ground but here we are because nothing was done to accommodate my time, money nor feelings. Every grievance I made Keihla aware of she had a rebuttal against and made it seem as if it were my fault. I explained her tardiness, as HER policy clearly states that “if YOU are more than 20 minutes late, then your appointment will automatically be marked as a no-show and the full appointment charge will apply.” Keep that sentence in mind. Keihla tells me, “you still finished on time.” My question is, if you would have started on time, would I have finished early?! I honestly believe the service was rushed because she was running 30mins behind schedule. Or could I have shown up at 1:30pm and you still accept my appointment? The answer, absolutely not!!! Because in this situation her time is money and her time is valuable not mine! I tell her about cutting my hair when I specifically said I only wanted a curl and I also booked the service that did NOT include a trim so clearly I was not looking to have my hair cut at that time as I had just recently received a trim 3 weeks prior to booking with Keilha. She responds “you do need a trim and you were really low when you answered.” Babygirl if you were unsure then ask again!! There was no apology… I stand corrected, Keihla claims she apologized and my response to her was “well you were really low!” She also tells me “yea I could feel your energy.” I wish I could make all this up!!! There was no accountability, no offer to make my FIRST (and last) experience a little bit better, no remorse. Her only question/concern was “how would you like to pay, do you have Zelle?” As a paying customer, I feel as though my time, money and emotions were not valued nor respected. An apology or a kind gesture to make amends for the horrible experience goes a long way and it simply lacked in this instance along with her service. This is in no way a negative review on Color Du Jour as it is my understanding that the stylist is an independent contractor.

I had the pleasure of booking Alaina for my destination wedding in Portugal in April. She was amazing, and my wedding makeup turned out so beautiful. She is very professional, timely, warm-hearted, and a perfectionist with her makeup application. She applied my makeup around 7 a,m., and it lasted throughout day including during the afterparty (around 2 a.m.). I was shocked because I suffer from oily skin but my face remained oil-free the entire day. I am so grateful to have used Alaina for my wedding day, and I absolutely loved my makeup.

I flew in from South Carolina to Houston just to learn from her!! She’s amazing! Professional, very educated in makeup and business and her studio is EVERYTHING!!! If you’re thinking about taking a 1 on 1 DO IT!! It’s worth every penny and some!! Her assistant was amazing as well! The booking process was seamless and very simple! I’ll be back for sure!

It’s always a pleasure going to this beautiful studio! They are taking proper precautions from the time you walk in! The ambiance was beautiful! Alaina did my make up and I absolutely love it! Loren, did my hair for me last minute with no hesitation! Josh did my photo shoot and I love it! Made me very comfortable because this was my first time doing a photo shoot! Great vibes! Very professional caring team! Them as a team made me feel so happy!

My experience with Alaina at Color Du Jour was amazing !! I loved everything about it. She really knows the knowledge behind makeup and her work speaks for itself. I could tell while working with her that she is very passionate about what she does. I honestly would recommend her to anyone. I really hope she continues to prosper in the beauty industry.

Very professional and mindful of appointment times. Little to no wait time. The makeup services were phenomenal and Alaina executed a beautiful look for my maternity photos. Josh was just as professional and patient during the photo shoot! Would highly recommend and I will definitely be returning!

I had a great time with Alaina. I needed a professional headshot done so I asked that she do a natural look with a bold lip for me. She nailed it, of course. But I really enjoyed the experience of it all. Her studio is beautiful and she runs her business with integrity. I was in and out ON TIME which is a big plus for me. Lastly, Alaina is just friendly and nice to talk to. Her and Kyri (I hope I'm spelling this correctly) made me feel right at home. They made my afternoon and my photos came out amazingly! Please don't hesitate to use her for a great, overall beauty experience.
